Oxnard, Calif. – The Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association (ATRA) has announced it will be sponsoring Road 2 A Cure, a nationwide tour raising support and awareness for pancreatic cancer research that launches from Los Angeles on February 20th, 2010.
ATRA prepared the truck of Road 2 A Cure’s Chris Calaprice for the tour by giving it a 60,000 mile service tune-up, checking its transmission, oil, tires, brakes, and batteries on Wednesday, February 10th, at ATRA’s headquarters in Oxnard. Once Calaprice departs, he will be able to visit one of ATRA’s 1,900 shops along his route in the United States or Canada for any needed technical support.
"We are proud to be sponsoring Road 2 A Cure, as finding a cure for pancreatic cancer is a pressing need for thousand of survivors worldwide,” said ATRA technical director Lance Wiggins. "This is a perfect opportunity to bring together our love for fixing cars and our love for serving our community.”
Road 2 A Cure will be traveling 42,000 miles in all 50 states in nine months, one mile for each person that is diagnosed with pancreatic cancer every year. Calaprice is a survivor of pancreatic cancer and has been in chemotherapy treatment for over six years. For more information on the tour, visit http://www.road2acure.org/.
ATRA’s technical support for Calaprice is part of its "Peace of Mind” guarantee that ensures each one of its members that their car is covered under warranty by an ATRA shop in North America whenever the need arises. Visit http://www.atra.com to learn more.
